Legendary mix engineer, Gimel “Young Guru” Keaton is the man behind the iconic sound of world-renowned artist Jay-Z. Over the course of the last twenty years Guru has become one of the most influential minds in audio engineering. Initially known for his award-winning audio mixes on some of the most successful commercial releases in the history of modern music he is also highly regarded for his unique ability to communicate complex technical terms, to not only students but creatives and business professionals alike. This strength has lef to invitations to speak at multiple corporations, including Google’s HQ, Pandora HQ, Bittorent HQ and Ogilvy & Mather's HQ in Hong Kong. In addition, Young Guru has spoken at numerous universities such as NYU-Poly, Cornell University, Emory University and the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at New York University. In 2013 Young Guru accepted an invitation to serve as Artist-in-Residence at The University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music. He is also involved with several National Science Foundation projects via a long-standing relationship with Georgia Tech, one of the top technical institutions in the world.

In 2013, Google recognized Guru's unique position as an early adopter at the cross roads of music and tech and offered him the opportunity to create a commercial showcasing how musicians could benefit from using their Google Glass technology. This content piece went onto have over 900,000 views on YouTube and was featured by The New York Times, Wired.com and Vice Magazine just to name a few. The October 2014 issue of Vogue Italia includes a piece highlighting Guru and his thoughts pertaining to sound philosophy and emerging technologies. Guru also partnered with Hewlett-Packard and The Recording Academy's Grammy University Program to create the first tour of its kind called, the Era of the Engineer tour, in 2013. Through this initiative he traveled to thirteen college campuses to speak on what he likes to call "creative engineering" which recognizes the cross disciplinary nature in which most Millennia's approach the creative process.

Young Guru remains one of the most sought after audio engineers in music today. Most recently he’s completed mixes for budding newcomers, Jhene Aiko and A$AP Mob as well as veteran artist, Common's Nobody's Smiling which debuted #1 on Billboard charts upon its release. In addition to his work behind the boards and in the classroom he has announced his highly anticipated, Era of the Engineer vol.1; a "how to" book for engineers, producers and artists alike.
