Beau Wise Speaker Profile: At A Glance
Beau Wise is a United States Marine Corps combat veteran and the author of Three Wise Men, a powerful memoir about service, sacrifice, and resilience. As the only known U.S. service member to lose two brothers in Afghanistan, he brings a deeply personal perspective on duty and perseverance. His story has been featured in national media, and he speaks to audiences about leadership, teamwork, and overcoming adversity. With firsthand experience in combat and the realities of military life, Wise offers valuable insights that resonate with both civilian and military audiences.
Beau Wise grew up in a family deeply rooted in service and commitment. Alongside his brothers, Jeremy and Ben, he was instilled with values of duty and patriotism from an early age. This foundation led all three siblings to answer the call to serve their country following the events of September 11, 2001.
In 2008, Beau enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, dedicating himself to active duty until 2016. During his tenure, he served with First Battalion, Third Marines; Marine Corps Security Forces; and India Company, Third Battalion, Twenty-third Marines. His commitment to his roles and the missions he undertook exemplified the Marine Corps' core values of honor, courage, and commitment.
Tragically, the Wise family faced profound loss during the Afghanistan war. Jeremy, a Navy SEAL veteran and CIA contractor, was killed in a suicide bombing. Less than three years later, Ben, serving as a U.S. Army Green Beret sniper, was fatally wounded during a firefight with the Taliban. In recognition of these sacrifices, Beau was designated as the Department of Defense's "Sole Survivor," making him the only known American service member to receive this designation as a result of the war in Afghanistan.
To honor his brothers and share their collective story, Beau co-authored the memoir Three Wise Men with Tom Sileo. The book provides an intimate look into the lives of the Wise brothers, detailing their individual journeys in the military and the profound bonds they shared. Through this narrative, readers gain insight into the sacrifices made by military families and the enduring spirit of those who serve.
Today, Beau continues to share his family's story, offering perspectives on service, sacrifice, and resilience. His experiences serve as a testament to the strength of familial bonds and the enduring commitment of those who serve in the armed forces.
