She currently serves as the Disability Equality Index Director at Disability:IN, helping organizations improve their inclusion efforts. Becky has been featured in major media outlets and has collaborated with Fortune 500 companies to drive meaningful change. Becky Curran Kekula was born with achondroplasia, a common form of dwarfism, and stands four feet tall. Her parents and older sister are of average height. From an early age, her parents instilled in her a positive outlook, encouraging her to participate in activities such as sailing, skiing, soccer, and swimming alongside her average-height peers. She graduated from Providence College with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. Determined to influence authentic portrayals of people with disabilities in media and society, she faced a challenging job market, submitting 1,000 applications, attending 100 interviews, and undertaking three temporary assignments before securing a position in the Entertainment Marketing department at Creative Artists Agency, the world’s leading entertainment and sports agency. In 2011, Becky embarked on a motivational speaking career, sharing her life experiences to foster acceptance of physical differences. She has since spoken at over 400 venues, including schools, corporations, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies across the United States, Canada, and Kenya. Notably, in 2013, she delivered a keynote address in Nairobi, Kenya, aiding in the launch of the Little People Organization of Kenya. Currently, Becky serves as the Senior Director of Stakeholder Engagement at Disability:IN, a leading nonprofit resource for business disability inclusion worldwide. In her role, she is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including corporate partners, potential partners, Disability-Owned Business Enterprises, and members of the disability community. Through her advocacy and professional endeavors, Becky continues to empower individuals and organizations to create inclusive environments, challenging societal perceptions and promoting equality for all.
