Ben Hecht has dedicated his career to fostering social change and economic inclusion in urban communities. Trained as a lawyer and certified public accountant, he co-founded One Economy Corporation in 2000, a nonprofit aimed at connecting low-income individuals to the economic mainstream through innovative online content and expanded broadband access.
In 2007, Hecht became the President and CEO of Living Cities, a collaborative of 22 leading foundations and financial institutions focused on addressing poverty in American cities. Under his leadership, Living Cities invested over $140 million in grants and loans to revitalize public systems and connect underinvested communities to opportunities.
Beyond his executive roles, Hecht has authored works on affordable housing and nonprofit management, sharing insights gained from years of experience in the field. He also served as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center for 25 years, earning the Charles Fahy Distinguished Adjunct Professor Award in 1996.
