In 1993, Horowitz co-founded Virage, a video analysis startup, serving as its CTO and guiding the company from inception through its IPO and eventual acquisition by Autonomy. In 2004, Horowitz joined Yahoo as Vice President of Advanced Development, where he led the acquisition of Flickr and launched the Brickhouse incubator. His work in developing products like Yahoo!
