Bradley R. Staats is the Ellison Distinguished Professor of Operations at the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. He also serves as the Senior Associate Dean for Strategy and Academics and is the Faculty Director of the Center for the Business of Health. Staats’s research integrates operations management with behavioral science to understand how and under what conditions individuals, teams, and organizations can perform their best. He holds a Doctorate of Business Administration in technology and operations management and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He also earned a Bachelor of Science with honors in electrical engineering and a Bachelor of Arts with high honors in Plan II and Spanish from The University of Texas at Austin, where he was named the Most Outstanding Male Graduate of his class.
Before his academic career, Staats worked as a venture capitalist, in investment banking at Goldman Sachs, and in strategic planning at Dell Corporation. He lives in Chapel Hill with his wife and three sons, where he enjoys coaching his sons' baseball teams and participating in the local community.
