Brandon Leake is an award-winning spoken word poet, artistic educator, and motivational speaker from Stockton, California. He gained national recognition as the winner of Season 15 of America’s Got Talent, becoming the first spoken word poet to win the competition. His performances, which often explore themes of grief, identity, and social justice, have resonated with audiences across the United States and beyond. Born and raised in a single-parent household, Brandon's early life was marked by challenges. Despite these obstacles, he found solace in poetry, which became a powerful tool for self-expression and healing. He pursued higher education at Simpson University in Redding, California, where he earned a degree in psychology. During his time at university, he founded Called To Move (CTM), a nonprofit organization aimed at helping youth realize their potential through the arts. Since then, Brandon has traveled extensively, performing in 36 U.S. states, as well as in New Zealand, Mexico, and Canada. His "Dark Side Tour" promoted his first published poetry chapbook and his album Deficiencies: A Tale From My Dark Side, both of which delve into themes of personal growth and resilience. He has collaborated with various organizations, including Meta, CBS, and the California Hospital Association, and has been featured on platforms like Good Morning America and with the Golden State Warriors. In addition to his artistic endeavors, Brandon serves as an academic advisor at San Joaquin Delta College and continues to lead workshops through CTM. His work has earned him multiple accolades, including seven Telly Awards, one SOVAS Award, and one Emmy Award. Brandon's commitment to using poetry as a means of connection and empowerment continues to inspire and impact communities worldwide.
