Brent Jones is a former NFL tight end who played his entire 11-season career with the San Francisco 49ers. Born in San Jose, California, he attended Santa Clara University, where he transitioned from wide receiver to tight end. His college career was marked by significant achievements, including being named a three-time All-Western Football Conference selection and earning All-American honors in 1985. Despite being drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fifth round of the 1986 NFL Draft, a car accident led to a herniated disc in his neck, causing the Steelers to release him. The San Francisco 49ers then signed him, and he went on to become a key player in their offense. Jones was instrumental in the 49ers' success during the late 1980s and early 1990s, contributing to three Super Bowl victories (XXIII, XXIV, XXIX). He was known for his exceptional blocking and pass-catching abilities, setting franchise records for tight ends with 417 receptions, 5,195 receiving yards, and 33 touchdowns. He later co-founded Northgate Capital, a private equity and venture capital firm, where he served as managing director and founding partner. Jones has also been involved in coaching, mentoring young athletes, and remains active in the Bay Area community.
