Byron Leftwich is a former NFL quarterback and current assistant coach for the Colorado Buffaloes under head coach Deion Sanders. Born on January 14, 1980, in Washington, D.C., Leftwich played college football at Marshall University, where he earned multiple accolades, including two MAC Offensive Player of the Year awards. He was selected seventh overall in the 2003 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he became the team's starting quarterback midway through his rookie season. Over his 10-year playing career, Leftwich also played for the Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, earning a Super Bowl ring with the Steelers in 2009. After retiring from playing, Leftwich began his coaching career with the Arizona Cardinals in 2016 as a coaching intern.
