Dr. Blackstock's journey began in Brooklyn, New York, where she was inspired by her mother, Dr. Dale Blackstock, a trailblazing physician who faced and overcame significant barriers in her own medical career. This early exposure cultivated Dr. Blackstock’s deep commitment to social justice and medicine. She completed her undergraduate studies at Harvard College before earning her medical degree from Harvard Medical School. Following her education, she completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at NYU/Bellevue Hospital, one of the busiest emergency departments in the country.
In 2019, Dr. Blackstock founded Advancing Health Equity, a consulting firm dedicated to helping healthcare organizations close the gap in racial health disparities. Through her work with Advancing Health Equity, she provides transformative training on unconscious bias, health equity, and social determinants of health to a variety of stakeholders ranging from healthcare providers to policymakers.
