Running back John Riggins played 175 games in 14 seasons with the New York Jets and Washington Redskins. A Big Eight rushing champion who broke Gale Sayers’ rushing record at the University of Kansas, Riggins was the first pick of the New York Jets and the sixth player selected in the 1971 NFL Draft. In 1983, Riggins helped lead the Redskins to their first Super Bowl victory while being named the game’s MVP. Riggins still holds the record for most carries in a Super Bowl (38). He became the second player in NFL history to rush for over 100 career touchdowns and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1992.
