At just 28 years old, he became one of the youngest tenured professors in Harvard's history. Summers' career spans significant roles in academia, government, and international organizations. He served as Chief Economist of the World Bank from 1991 to 1993, where he played a pivotal role in designing strategies to aid developing countries. Under President Bill Clinton, Summers held various positions in the U.S. Treasury Department, culminating in his appointment as the 71st Secretary of the Treasury. Summers returned to public service during the Obama administration as the Director of the National Economic Council, where he was a key figure in the response to the 2008 financial crisis. Currently, Summers continues to contribute to economic thought and policy as a professor at Harvard and through various advisory roles.
