The McBride Sisters Speaker Profile: At A Glance
In 2005, Robin and Andréa found themselves together in California, fueled by a shared passion for all things wine, wine-making and a desire to shake up the industry with a blend of old-world elegance and new-world finesse. It was then that the McBride Sisters Collection was born. Over time, McBride Sisters has grown into what is not only the largest Black-owned wine company in the United States, but one of the most inclusive, accessible, socially aware and sustainable. Since 2005, The McBride Sisters’ mission has been clear - to transform the industry, lead by example, and cultivate community, one delicious glass of wine at a time.
The McBride Sisters, Robin and Andréa McBride, are the dynamic founders of McBride Sisters Wine Company, the largest Black-owned wine company in the United States. Born into separate households on opposite sides of the globe, Robin in Monterey, California, and Andréa in Marlborough, New Zealand, these two talented sisters were unaware of each other for most of their early lives. When they finally united in 1999, it was the beginning of a remarkable journey that would blend their family roots with their professional aspirations.
Robin and Andréa bonded over a mutual passion for the art of winemaking. Driven by a shared vision, they founded their company in 2005. Overcoming a myriad of challenges, including being women of color in a traditionally male-dominated industry, they have established a brand that champions inclusivity, sustainability, and community empowerment. Their wines, which consist of a diverse and premium selection, have garnered critical acclaim and loyal customers from around the world.
The McBride Sisters have spoken extensively about their commitment to redefining the industry by pushing for greater diversity and representation. They launched the McBride Sisters SHE CAN Professional Development Fund, a scholarship and mentorship initiative aimed at uplifting women in the wine industry. This fund exemplifies their dedication to creating opportunities for women and minorities who aspire to make their mark in winemaking.
Beyond their business accomplishments, Robin and Andréa are compelling storytellers and sought-after keynote speakers. They bring unique insights into topics such as entrepreneurship, leadership, diversity, and the importance of sustainability. Their journey from serendipitous family reunion to industry leaders is not just inspiring but also underscores the power of resilience and vision.
Today, the McBride Sisters continue to break barriers and set new standards, serving not just as leaders in wine but also as role models for aspiring entrepreneurs everywhere. Their story is a testament to the magic that happens when passion meets purpose, and their ongoing work promises to inspire and impact countless individuals.
