Alison Levine Speaker Profile: At A Glance
Alison Levine is a polar explorer and mountaineer who is no stranger to extreme environments. She has survived sub-zero temperatures, hurricane force winds, sudden avalanches, and a career on Wall Street. She is one of the most in-demand keynote speakers, delivering resounding leadership messages that transcend her extreme climbing expeditions and remain relevant in today’s fast-paced business environments. She is able to draw relevant, authentic parallels between mountaineering and business because she has experienced both first hand—on multiple mountains, in multiple organizations, and in multiple industries.
Alison Levine is a trailblazing adventurer, mountaineer, and leadership expert renowned for her history-making expeditions and compelling leadership insights. She served as the team captain of the first American Women’s Everest Expedition and has achieved the Adventure Grand Slam, a feat that involves climbing the highest peak on each continent and skiing to both the North and South Poles. Her remarkable journey is further highlighted by her successful 600-mile traverse from west Antarctica to the South Pole, following the route of the legendary explorer Reinhold Messner.
Beyond her adventurous spirit, Alison has a rich background in the corporate world. She worked in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries, earned an MBA from Duke University, and spent several years at Goldman Sachs. She also served as deputy finance director for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s successful gubernatorial campaign. Her dual experiences in extreme environments and high-stakes business settings allow her to draw powerful parallels between mountaineering and leadership, making her a sought-after speaker for Fortune 500 companies, professional sports teams, and prestigious forums like the World Economic Forum at Davos.
Alison's expertise in leadership is also academic. She spent four years as an adjunct professor at the United States Military Academy at West Point in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership and is a board and faculty member at the Thayer Leader Development Group. She authored the New York Times bestseller "On the Edge: Leadership Lessons from Mount Everest and Other Extreme Environments," where she shares her insights on creating cohesive teams, taking responsible risks, and leading in times of uncertainty.
Committed to making a difference, Alison founded the Climb High Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering jobless women in Uganda by training them to be trekking guides and porters. Her work has been documented in the PBS film "Living Courageously." Additionally, she serves as the executive producer of the upcoming documentary "The Glass Ceiling," which chronicles the life of Pasang Lhamu Sherpa, the first Nepali woman to summit Mt. Everest. Through her numerous roles, Alison continues to inspire and empower individuals to overcome obstacles and reach new heights.
