Brad Garrett, born Bradley H. Gerstenfeld on April 14, 1960, in Woodland Hills, California, is an American actor and stand-up comedian renowned for his deep voice and towering stature. Standing at 6 feet 9 inches, he began his journey in the entertainment world by performing at Los Angeles comedy clubs such as The Ice House in Pasadena and The Improv in Hollywood. His breakthrough came in 1984 when he became the first $100,000 grand champion winner in the comedy category of "Star Search," leading to an appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson" at the age of 23.
Following his early success, Garrett opened for legendary performers including Frank Sinatra, Diana Ross, and Liza Minnelli. Transitioning to television, he took on various roles before landing the character of Robert Barone, the endearingly awkward brother on the hit sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond" (1996–2005). His portrayal earned him three Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
In addition to his on-screen performances, Garrett has an extensive career as a voice actor.
