Brian Billick is a seasoned football coach and analyst with a career spanning over four decades. Born in Fairborn, Ohio, and raised in Redlands, California, he developed a passion for football early on. After a brief stint as a linebacker at the Air Force Academy, Billick transferred to Brigham Young University, where he transitioned to tight end. His performance earned him All-Western Athletic Conference honors and an honorable mention All-America selection in 1976. Although drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 11th round of the 1977 NFL Draft, he was released before playing in a regular-season game. Billick's coaching journey began in 1977 at the University of Redlands, followed by roles at Brigham Young University, San Diego State, Utah State, and Stanford. In 1992, he joined the Minnesota Vikings as tight ends coach, later becoming the offensive coordinator. Under his guidance, the Vikings set an NFL record in 1998 by scoring 556 points in a season. In 1999, Billick became the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, leading them to a Super Bowl XXXV victory in 2001 with a 34–7 win over the New York Giants. He served as head coach until 2007, compiling an 85–67 record. Billick was inducted into the Ravens Ring of Honor in 2019. After his coaching tenure, Billick transitioned to broadcasting, serving as an analyst for FOX Sports and NFL Network. In 2022, he returned to coaching as an offensive analyst and advisor at Arizona State University, working alongside longtime colleagues Herm Edwards and Marvin Lewis. His extensive experience in both coaching and broadcasting provides a unique perspective on the game. Beyond football, Billick is an accomplished author, having co-authored several books, including Competitive Leadership: Twelve Principles for Success, Finding the Winning Edge, and More Than a Game: The Glorious Present and Uncertain Future of the NFL. He is also active in philanthropy, supporting organizations such as the United Way of Central Maryland, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and the American Lung Association. Billick resides in Columbus, Ohio, with his wife, Kim, and their two daughters.
