Brian Halligan is the co-founder and executive chairperson of HubSpot, a leading CRM and marketing software company based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He co-founded HubSpot in 2006 with Dharmesh Shah while pursuing his MBA at MIT's Sloan School of Management. The company has since grown to serve over 200,000 customers worldwide and has been recognized for its innovative approach to inbound marketing. Before HubSpot, Halligan held senior roles at PTC and Groove Networks, the latter of which was acquired by Microsoft. His experience in sales and entrepreneurship laid the foundation for his work at HubSpot. At MIT, he developed and taught the popular course "Scaling Entrepreneurial Ventures," guiding students through the challenges of growing a startup. Halligan is also the founder of Propeller Ventures, a $100 million climate tech venture fund focused on ocean innovation investments. He serves on the boards of Navier and Aquatic Labs and is a senior advisor at Sequoia Capital, mentoring startup founders on their journey to becoming scaleup CEOs. A passionate fan and scholar of the Grateful Dead, Halligan co-wrote "Marketing Lessons From the Grateful Dead" with Bill Walton and David Meerman Scott. He is also working on a film about John Perry Barlow and co-authoring a Harvard Business Review case study on the band. Halligan holds a BSEE from the University of Vermont and an MBA from MIT's Sloan School of Management. In his spare time, he enjoys playing guitar, tennis, and supporting youth programs in Boston.
