Born on November 14, 1980, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Pierce began his career in entertainment, starring in Disney films such as The Mighty Ducks (1992), D2: The Mighty Ducks (1994), and First Kid (1996). Transitioning from acting, he co-founded Digital Entertainment Network (DEN), a company that faced legal challenges in the late 1990s. Despite the controversies surrounding DEN, Pierce redirected his focus toward technology and innovation. In the early 2000s, Pierce became a prominent figure in the digital currency space. He founded Internet Gaming Entertainment (IGE), a leading digital currency marketplace for online games, which achieved annual sales exceeding $1 billion and attracted investors like Goldman Sachs. IGE was sold in 2016 for over $100 million. Additionally, Pierce co-founded ZAM, a major media outlet for gamers, which was acquired by Tencent in 2012. His ventures laid the groundwork for his future endeavors in blockchain technology. Pierce's impact on the blockchain industry is significant. He co-founded Blockchain Capital in 2013, the first venture fund dedicated exclusively to blockchain technology companies. Under his leadership, the firm pioneered the first ICO of a venture fund, creating the first security token, BCAP. In 2017, he co-founded Block.one, which conducted the largest initial coin offering (ICO) at the time, raising over $4 billion through the EOS token sale. In 2020, he ran for President of the United States as an independent candidate, receiving the first-ever U.S. presidential vote cast on the blockchain.
