Brooklyn Decker Speaker Profile: At A Glance

One of the most famous alumni of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, Brooklyn Decker is widely recognized both as a model and as an actress. She graced the magazine’s 2010 cover and enjoys a successful acting career that has seen her star in all seven seasons of the Netflix series Grace and Frankie. Recently she launched her first fashion line with the online sustainability brand Buru, which will donate 100% of her portion of the sales to the Special Olympics and the Andy Roddick Foundation, the charity founded by her husband and former tennis-pro champ. Brooklyn is an avid investor as well, primarily in female-founded businesses.

Brooklyn Decker is a multifaceted professional whose career spans modeling, acting, technology entrepreneurship, and philanthropy. Born in Kettering, Ohio, in 1987, she was discovered at 16 while shopping in Charlotte, North Carolina. This serendipitous encounter launched her into the world of fashion. By 18, she had moved to New York City, quickly becoming a sought-after face in the industry. She graced the pages of major magazines like Vogue, Glamour, and Cosmopolitan, and appeared in campaigns for brands such as Gap and Victoria's Secret. Her big break came in 2010 when she was featured on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, solidifying her status as a top model. Transitioning into acting, Decker made her film debut in 2011's Just Go with It, followed by roles in Battleship (2012) and What to Expect When You're Expecting (2012). She also showcased her comedic talents in television series like New Girl, The League, and Grace and Frankie, where she portrayed Mallory Hanson, daughter to Jane Fonda's character. Her performance in Grace and Frankie earned her critical acclaim and contributed to the show's status as Netflix's longest-running series. In 2017, Decker co-founded Finery, a fashion tech startup designed to help users manage their wardrobes digitally. The platform functioned as a "closet operating system," allowing users to organize their clothing and plan outfits. Finery was eventually acquired by Stitch Fix in 2019. Beyond Finery, Decker has invested in and advised several companies, particularly those founded and led by women, including Jane’s Club, Tiff’s Treats, and Bodily. Outside of her professional endeavors, Decker is deeply committed to philanthropy. Inspired by her aunt, who was born with an intellectual disability, she became involved with the Special Olympics in her hometown of Charlotte. She now serves as a Global Ambassador for the organization, advocating for inclusion and acceptance. Decker resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her husband, former tennis player Andy Roddick, and their two children. She continues to balance her diverse roles with a focus on authenticity and community engagement.
