Bryce Dallas Howard is an American actor, director, and producer whose career bridges blockbuster cinema, independent storytelling, and innovative television. Born in Los Angeles in 1981 to actor-director Ron Howard and writer Cheryl Howard, she was raised away from the spotlight in New York and Connecticut. Her parents, wary of child stardom, encouraged her to explore various interests before she formally pursued acting. She later graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she would eventually return as an educator.
Howard's breakout role came in M. Night Shyamalan’s The Village (2004), followed by performances in Spider-Man 3, The Help, and Rocketman. She gained international recognition as Claire Dearing in the Jurassic World trilogy, a role that showcased her ability to balance emotional nuance with action-driven storytelling. Her performance in the Black Mirror episode “Nosedive” earned her a SAG nomination, further cementing her reputation for tackling complex, character-driven narratives.
Behind the camera, Howard has directed acclaimed episodes of The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and the upcoming Skeleton Crew, all part of the Star Wars universe. Her feature documentary Dads (Apple TV+) was praised for its warmth and humor, and she recently completed PETS, a Disney+ documentary. She is also attached to direct a reimagining of Flight of the Navigator for Disney.
In 2020, Howard founded Nine Muses Entertainment, a company focused on inclusive, character-driven storytelling. She also launched the Nine Muses Lab at NYU, mentoring emerging creatives in authorship and collaboration. As a speaker, she has delivered talks at TED, SXSW EDU, and Harvard, often exploring themes like digital identity, resilience, and creativity in the modern age.
