Campbell Brown is an award-winning journalist and media executive with a career spanning broadcast news, digital media, and education reform. Born on June 14, 1968, in Ferriday, Louisiana, she began her journalism career in local news before joining NBC News in 1996. At NBC, she served as a White House correspondent and co-hosted Weekend Today. In 2006, she won an Emmy Award for her coverage of Hurricane Katrina. In 2007, she joined CNN, where she anchored Campbell Brown: No Bias, No Bull until 2010.
Transitioning from journalism to education advocacy, Brown co-founded The 74 in 2015, a nonprofit news organization dedicated to covering education in America. The name "The 74" reflects the 74 million children under the age of 18 in the United States. Under her leadership, The 74 expanded to include multiple platforms, including LA School Report and LA School Report en Español. The organization focuses on issues such as school choice, teacher tenure reform, and educational equity.
In 2017, Brown joined Meta (formerly Facebook) as head of global news partnerships. She led initiatives like Facebook News and Bulletin, aiming to connect users with credible news sources. Her role involved managing relationships with publishers and overseeing Meta's efforts to combat misinformation.
