Carlo Capua is a story-driven keynote speaker, emcee, moderator and facilitator who helps audiences recognize the experiences, relationships and opportunities that expand what they believe is possible.
His signature keynote, Finding Your 1993: The Power of One Experience, explores how a single class, conversation, trip, mentor, challenge or second chance can change the trajectory of a life — and how leaders and organizations can intentionally create more of those transformative experiences for others.
Carlo’s career spans civic leadership, international affairs, philanthropy, entrepreneurship and community engagement. He currently serves as an advisor to the Rainwater Charitable Foundation and previously served as Chief of Strategy and Innovation for the City of Fort Worth. He also served as chair of the Board of Directors of Sister Cities International, one of the world’s largest citizen-diplomacy organizations.
A graduate of Texas Christian University, Carlo spent seven years teaching in Japan and Mexico before earning a master’s degree in International Relations from Harvard University. He speaks English, Spanish and Japanese.
As a social entrepreneur, Carlo co-founded an award-winning enterprise that created 165 jobs for people facing barriers to employment. His experiences have also included completing an Ironman, running 19 marathons around the world — including the Pyongyang Marathon in North Korea — and taking on unusual challenges that have shaped his perspective on resilience, possibility and human connection.
Carlo has spoken for audiences and organizations including Google, Harvard University, Duke University, YPO, Rotary International, Texas Christian University and Sister Cities International. Whether delivering a keynote, hosting a conference, moderating a conversation or facilitating a leadership session, he brings warmth, humor, curiosity and an ability to connect quickly with a room.
“Carlo is a gifted storyteller and an engaging, memorable speaker who understands that the best keynotes are not simply heard—they are felt. I recommend him enthusiastically to any organization looking for a keynote speaker who can entertain an audience, connect with people in a meaningful way, and leave them thinking about his message long after the event has ended.”
— Heath Einstein, Vice Provost for Enrollment Management, Texas Christian University
“Carlo is warm, charismatic, incredibly prepared, and genuinely invested in the success of whatever he does. As an emcee, he takes the time to research the organization, the cause, and the audience so that he can speak with knowledge and authenticity.”
— Christina Judge, MA, CFRE, Executive Director, Mental Health Connection of Tarrant County
“From an event planner’s perspective, Carlo is an incredible partner. He takes the time to understand the purpose of the event, the organization’s mission, and the desired outcome of the program. He is prepared, adaptable, and able to think on his feet when changes happen—which, in live events, is invaluable.”
— Rattana Mao, Interim CEO and Executive Leader
