Adia Gooden, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist; she received her BA in Psychology from Stanford University and her PhD in Clinical Community Psychology from DePaul University.     Research demonstrates that practicing self-compassion fosters resilience and mental wellness. Further, when people are compassionate with themselves, they are more understanding, supportive, and compassionate with other people. In this talk Dr. Adia will discuss the importance of practicing self-compassion for professional success, break down the components of self-compassion, and provide practical strategies to integrate self-compassion in attendees’ daily lives.
  • Black Women and Mental Health: Challenges & Opportunities

    The strength and resilience of Black women is widely recognized. What is often overlooked is the silent suffering and mental health challenges Black women experience as they navigate racism and sexism in their daily lives. In this talk, Dr. Adia draws on her expertise from clinical work and research with Black women to provide insights on the unique mental health challenges Black women experience, how Black women can cope with and overcome these challenges, and how organizations can support the mental health and wellness of Black women.
