Leland Vittert Speaker Profile: At A Glance

Leland Vittert is NewsNation's Chief Washington Anchor and NYT bestselling author of Born Lucky - A dedicated father, a grateful son and my journey with Autism. He delivers two keynotes. "Follow the Money" explains Washington through economics and incentives — not politics — for corporate and executive audiences. "Born Lucky" tells the story of a father who quit his job to become his autistic son's only friend — and what unconditional love accomplished. Vittert covered the Arab Spring, reported from conflict zones across the Middle East, as a foreign correspondent before anchoring in Washington.

Leland Vittert is the Chief Washington Anchor for NewsNation and host of On Balance, the network's primetime weeknight newscast. He is the New York Times bestselling author of Born Lucky: A Dedicated Father, A Grateful Son, and My Journey with Autism (Harper Horizon, 2025). Diagnosed on the autism spectrum at age 8 with a 70-point IQ spread — the largest the evaluator had ever seen — Leland was told by a psychologist that there was "not much you can do." His father rejected that answer. He quit his job, became his son's only friend, and spent 15 years teaching him social skills through techniques he invented on his own — techniques that would later mirror the principles of professional behavioral therapy. At 28, Leland became a network foreign correspondent for Fox News, based in Jerusalem. He covered the Arab Spring, multiple Gaza wars, the conflict in Libya, and Russia's advance into Donetsk in eastern Ukraine — where his father's family had fled as Jewish refugees a century earlier. He dodged rockets on live television, navigated checkpoints manned by armed separatists, and carried a piece of shrapnel home from a near miss. Returning to Washington, he covered the 2016 presidential election, reported from the Trump White House, and was on the ground for January 6th. He joined NewsNation in 2021. Since Born Lucky hit the bestseller list, hundreds of families have written in — parents, grandparents, teenagers — saying the book changed how they show up for the people they love. Leland now delivers two keynotes drawn from opposite ends of his life: one that explains Washington through economics, and one that proves what unconditional love can accomplish.
