Former Department of Homeland Security Cyber Official Mike Echols is now an international cyber speaker and business leader. Mike has provided keynotes for ISACA, the Canadian Economic Forum and many national security forums. He was featured on a PBS cybersecurity special called “Roadtrip Nation.” Mike is leading Max Cybersecurity in efforts to build a national culture of cybersecurity. Mike has led his team in the cyber requirement’s development for the Jacksonville Transit Authority’s autonomous vehicle system. He now leads efforts for American Public Transportation Association (APTA) to develop Recommended Practices and Standards for Operational Technology.As the CEO and founder of MAX Cybersecurity LLC, a Washington DC 8a company with diverse clients and projects, I have over 25 years of experience in cybersecurity, critical infrastructure protection, and risk management. I hold a CISSP certification and have provided Keynotes, authored and co-authored multiple publications and articles on cyber-related topics. I am also a frequent speaker and panelist at national and international events, sharing my insights and perspectives on cyber threats, best practices, and solutions.
My mission is to bring transparency to cybersecurity and expert support to emergency managers, government agencies, and private sector organizations. I lead a global effort to harmonize cyber management and enhance threat information sharing across various sectors and domains. I leverage my extensive background and network in homeland security, public safety, and counterterrorism to design and implement innovative and effective cyber strategies and programs. I am passionate about advancing national risk reduction practices and cyber education, and empowering others to become more cyber resilient.
