Susan Stamberg Speaker Profile: At A Glance

Susan Stamberg is a pioneering American broadcast journalist known as one of NPR's "founding mothers". She was the first woman to anchor a national nightly news program when she co-hosted All Things Considered from 1972 to 1986. Stamberg has won every major broadcasting award, is a member of the Broadcasting Hall of Fame and Radio Hall of Fame, and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2020. After her tenure on All Things Considered, she became the first host of Weekend Edition Sunday and later worked as a special correspondent for NPR, covering cultural topics, until her retirement in 2025.
