Zoey Luna Speaker Profile: At A Glance
Zoey Luna is a rising actress, activist, and advocate for transgender rights. A transgender Latinx woman, she began her advocacy at age 11 after her school attempted to expel her, leading to policy changes with support from her mother and the ACLU. Featured in Raising Zoey and MTV’s The T Word, she has delivered talks nationwide and appeared in Pride campaigns. Despite personal challenges, Zoey pursued acting, with roles in The Craft: Legacy, Pose, and Dear Evan Hansen. Now a thought leader, she uses her platform to inspire resilience and champion authenticity through storytelling and public engagement.
Zoey Luna is an actress, activist, and survivor whose life story is both heartbreaking and inspiring. As a transgender Latinx woman, Zoey has faced discrimination and adversity throughout her life. At just 11 years old, she became an activist when her school district tried to expel her for being openly transgender. With the help of her mother and the ACLU, she fought back and ensured that educators in her district would receive training to treat every LGBTQ child with dignity and respect.
Zoey’s story led to her becoming a documentary muse in her teen years. She appeared in “Raising Zoey” and MTV’s Emmy award-winning “Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word,” – sharing her narrative and educating others about transgender issues. Zoey has delivered transawareness talks to groups ranging from colleges to police departments. She frequently appears in various Pride campaigns and was the youngest co-grand marshal of LA Pride.
Zoey’s journey has not been without challenges. She was kicked out of her childhood home by her mother and forced to navigate the world alone at just 17. Throughout this difficult time, Zoey never lost sight of her dreams and continued to pursue her passion for acting. She landed her breakout role in Blumhouse and Sony’s “The Craft Legacy,” playing Lourdes, a Latina trans witch who desires to build community and make the world a better place with her magic. Zoey has also appeared in shows like “Pose” and films as Stephen Chbosky’s, “Dear Evan Hansen”, Parker Brennon’s feature “Hauntology”, Clarence Fuller’s “Destiny”, and is slated to release her first ever writing credit and starring role in Jimmi Simpson’s & Kyra Gardner’s coming of age slasher, “Slay”.
Through kindness, patience, and compassion for herself, she gained autonomy and overcame drug abuse, depression, and survived domestic abuse. Zoey is now a thought leader in the trans community, navigating her life by following her authenticity and encouraging others to do the same. Through her art, her social media, and her popular keynotes, she provides a model for resilience and perseverance, inspiring others to embrace their true identities.
