Betsy Kauffman is a seasoned leadership coach and TED speaker based in Charlotte, North Carolina. With over two decades of experience in organizational agility, she specializes in helping leaders and teams navigate complexity, foster innovation, and execute with clarity and confidence. As the founder and CEO of Cross Impact Coaching, Betsy partners with organizations to create high-performing, next-generation teams that thrive in dynamic environments.
Growing up in a military family, Betsy attended six schools across four U.S. states and Japan before settling in Virginia. This frequent relocation instilled in her a deep adaptability and resilience—qualities that have shaped her approach to leadership development. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from James Madison University in 1997, and later trained as a professional coach through the Co-Active Training Institute (CTI).
In 2014, Betsy launched Cross Impact Coaching to address a critical need she observed in corporate settings: the challenge of having honest, productive conversations in the workplace. Her TED Talk, “4 Tips to Kickstart Honest Conversations at Work,” reflects this mission, offering practical strategies for leaders to engage in candid dialogue and build trust within their teams. Her ability to name and navigate the “elephants in the room” with empathy and directness has become a hallmark of her coaching style.
Beyond her work with Cross Impact, Betsy is a mentor in the Charlotte Women in Business Mentoring Program and has been featured in various leadership and business publications. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two teenage sons, and two Labrador retrievers. Her personal interests include international travel, boating, hiking, and cooking.
