Brian Levenson is a mental performance coach, author, and founder of Strong Skills, a leadership development firm that works with elite performers across sports, business, and government. His clients include CEOs, professional athletes, and organizations such as the NBA, NHL, MLS, the Federal Reserve, Hilton, and the Department of Homeland Security. Through executive coaching, speaking, and consulting, Brian helps leaders and teams strengthen their mindset and performance by focusing on what he calls "strong skills"—the mental and emotional competencies that drive success. Brian's path to this work began in an unexpected way. After starting his career in sales, a chance lunch with renowned mental performance coach Julie Elion—who was working with top golfers like Phil Mickelson—sparked his interest in the field. Encouraged by her mentorship, Brian pursued a master's degree in sport psychology from John F. Kennedy University. He later earned a leadership coaching certificate from Georgetown University and became a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coaching Federation. In 2020, Brian published his first book, Shift Your Mind: 9 Mental Shifts to Thrive in Preparation and Performance. The book introduces a framework that distinguishes between the mindsets needed for preparation and those required for performance. Drawing on his experience with high achievers—from athletes and astronauts to chefs and CEOs—Brian outlines nine key mental shifts, such as moving between humility and arrogance, or analysis and instinct. The book has been praised for its practical insights and has become a resource for leaders seeking to elevate their performance. Beyond his coaching and writing, Brian hosted the Intentional Performers podcast from 2017 to 2024, where he interviewed over 400 high performers across various industries. He also developed the Self-Belief Inventory, a tool designed to help individuals assess and strengthen their confidence and mindset. In 2023, he released a free 152-page workbook filled with exercises and activities to support personal and organizational growth. Brian lives in Bethesda, Maryland, with his wife and two children. He serves on the board of PeacePlayers International and is active in philanthropic efforts supporting youth development and education. His work continues to bridge the worlds of sports and business, helping individuals and teams unlock their potential through intentional mindset shifts.
