Bill Goldberg, born William Scott Goldberg on December 27, 1966, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is an American professional wrestler, actor, and former football player. Raised in a Reform Jewish family, his mother, Ethel, was a classical violinist, and his father, Jed, was an obstetrician and gynecologist. Goldberg developed a passion for football early on and played as a defensive tackle at the University of Georgia. In the 1990 NFL Draft, he was selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the 11th round and later played for the Atlanta Falcons from 1992 to 1994. His football career concluded due to an abdominal injury. Transitioning to professional wrestling, Goldberg debuted in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1997. He quickly gained prominence with an impressive undefeated streak, becoming the highest-paid wrestler in WCW. During his tenure, he secured the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship twice, and the WCW World Tag Team Championship with Bret Hart. Following WCW's closure in 2001, Goldberg competed in All Japan Pro Wrestling and later joined World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in 2003, where he won the World Heavyweight Championship. After a hiatus, Goldberg returned to WWE in 2016, capturing the WWE Universal Championship twice, in 2017 and 2020. His wrestling career is distinguished by headlining multiple pay-per-view events and being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018. Notably, he is the only wrestler to have held the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, WWE's World Heavyweight Championship, and the WWE Universal Championship. Beyond wrestling, Goldberg has pursued acting, appearing in films like "Universal Soldier: The Return" and television shows such as "NCIS: Los Angeles." He also hosted 26 episodes of "Garage Mahal" on the DIY Network from 2009 to 2011. Additionally, he worked as a commentator for the mixed martial arts promotion Elite Xtreme Combat before its closure. Goldberg's journey from the football field to the wrestling ring and into entertainment showcases his versatility and dedication.
