Daveed Diggs Speaker Profile: At A Glance
Daveed Diggs is an American actor rapper and singer. He is the vocalist of the experimental hip-hop group ‘clipping.’ and in 2015 originated the roles of Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in the musical Hamilton for which he won both a Grammy Award and Tony Award. Since leaving Hamilton in 2016 he has had a recurring role on the television series Black-ish and co-starred in the film Wonder. Diggs also wrote, produced, and starred in the 2018 film Blindspottng, which earned him a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead.
Daveed Diggs has been the talk of the New York theater scene for his performance as both 'Thomas Jefferson' and 'Lafayette' in the lauded musical Hamilton created by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Following its sold-out run at New York's Public Theater, the show made the move to Broadway this summer and has been sold out since opening. The musical won the Obie for Best New American Theater Work and Daveed won the Lucille Lortel Award for his performance. The show earned a record-setting 16 Tony nominations including one for Diggs. The show also won the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album at the 58th Grammy Awards, bringing down the house with a live performance on the February 15th telecast.

Daveed is also an accomplished hip-hop artist and musician. He is MC of the Los Angeles experimental hip hop group 'clipping.' The group released their debut album on Sub Pop in 2014 and have another coming out with Sub Pop shortly.
