Pam Sherman is an attorney, actress, writer, and professor whose story of ditching her day job as a lawyer to pursue her dream as an actress was featured in People Magazine. Today she combines her business background as an attorney along with her creative talents to conduct the EDGE: Explore, Dream, Grow & Excite® Programs to help leaders and teams present themselves and their organizations with passion. Sherman is a keynote speaker and facilitator providing group and individual development programs for a variety of organizations including professional organizations, advertising agencies and Fortune 500 companies.
Having graduated from American University and the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Sherman practiced law specializing in securities and employment litigation in Washington, D.C. Upon leaving the law to become an actor, she attended the British American Drama Academy at Oxford University and the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater. Pam has performed in theater, film, and television, including NBC’s, Homicide: Life on the Streets, Unsolved Mysteries, and the long-running play, Shear Madness at the Kennedy Center. Her one-woman show Pumping Josey: Life and Death in Suburbia has played to great acclaim in many venues, including Horizons Theater the oldest women’s theater in the US. Her portrayal of Erma Bombeck in Erma Bombeck: At Wit’s End has broken box-office records around the country including Geva Theatre, Denver Center for the Performing, Des Moines Performing Arts, Cleveland Play House, among others.
Pam has been an adjunct professor at American University, where she created an award-winning curriculum in Arts Law in the Arts Management Program. She has guest lectured at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Business, Rochester Institute of Technology, and the Doctoral Program at St. John Fisher College. Among other seminars she has conducted, is Acting for Lawyers at the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.
Pam is a highly rated global resource for leadership groups including Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO), Vistage and Tiger 21. She has presented across North America and around the world including the Middle East, Europe, North Africa, and Australia. She has been recognized for her work and contributions by Young Women’s College Prep, as a “W” Award nominee, an Athena Award Finalist, as a Woman to Watch by JWI, and a Woman of Excellence and in the Circle of Excellence by the Business Journal. She is a member of TheLi.st a network of women in media, tech, investment, and social impact.
Her charitable involvement as an auctioneer has benefited many organizations including, among others, the Humane Society, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Geva Theatre, JDRF, the Center for Youth, the Student Leadership Network, National Children’s Hospital, and many others. She is a Chair of the Board of Directors of JWI and has been a member of the National Women’s Hall of Fame Induction Leadership Committee, as well as an Induction Judge. She is a member of Actor’s Equity Association, the Screen Actors Guild and of the bars of New York & Washington, D.C.
Her nationally syndicated humor column, The Suburban Outlaw® ran for over 15 years in Gannett’s USA Today and over 55 Newspapers across the United States. She has been recognized as one of the country’s top writers by the National Society of Newspaper Columnists.
