Katie Goodman Speaker Profile: At A Glance
Katie Goodman is an award-winning comedian, author and international speaker. Katie's work in comedy has amassed over 3 million online views. She can be seen on Showtime, Impractical Jokers, and, more often than she would admit, in line getting a mocha latte with extra, extra whipped cream. Katie literally wrote the book on using improv comedy to improve your life.
Her show "Broad Comedy" plays Off Broadway and tours nationally. Her love for self-help and comedy lands her career somewhere in between Tina Fey and Deepak Chopra. Her work has been celebrated by Arianna Huffington, Comedy Central, Leslie Stahl, Time Out New York, and her Pilates teacher in Brooklyn who says she is "getting better."
Katie holds a degree in Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania, and was nominated for the MacArthur Genius Grant for her work in theater. She got beat out by the astrophysicist who discovered the multiphase liquid behavior of nuclei, but better luck next time!
With over 20 years of experience training and speaking, Katie has taught over 30,000 people how to use the tools of improv comedy in their lives to handle absolutely everything and be more creative, courageous, and confident. When she's not at home in New York City, Katie can be found traveling the country for speaking events, comedy shows, and corporate workshops and trainings, teaching participants how to thrive at handling anything that comes their way.
Katie Goodman is an award-winning musical comic, actress, director, writer, filmmaker, author, and speaker. She has been seen on Showtime’s The Green Room, on Current TV as a pundit, and on TruTV in one of the most watched Impractical Jokers ever. (And yes, she was in on the joke!) She is a member of SAG/AFTRA and Actors Equity Association, and is signed with Comedy Dynamics, North America’s largest independent record label, and her album “Halfway Closer To Dead” is available on Itunes. Her comedy music videos can be seen, having amassed over 3,000,000 hits online. As the creator and headliner of “Broad Comedy,” an internationally touring satirical musical show that she and her husband Soren Kisiel write and direct, she has raised over $2,000,000 for Planned Parenthood and The ACLU. Her solo show, The Mid-Life Crisis Tour, has played Off-Broadway in New York City where she received a Time Out New York Critic’s Pick for Best Cabaret. She performed at the prestigious Gilded Balloon at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where her show sold in the top 5% of ticket sales for the entire festival. Katie has directed and acted in over 125 plays and she and Soren were nominated for The EPIC Award from The White House Project and were also nominated for the MacArthur Foundation Genius Grant for their extensive work in theatre.
Katie is the author of Improvisation For The Spirit and co-wrote the funny children's book, The Night Our Parents Went Out with Soren, and she has been a featured writer for The Huffington Post and O, The Oprah Magazine. She is also a nationally touring keynote speaker on the topic of using the tools of improv comedy in everyday life. She leads corporate workshops and retreats that are smart, approachable lively and engaging. She is currently an EP on a TV pilot, and writing TV scripts.
