Riley Gaines Speaker Profile: At A Glance

Riley Gaines, a 12 time All-American swimmer with 5 SEC titles was a successful female swimmer at University of Kentucky with ambitions to pursue a dental degree. That post-graduate ambition and her entire life was changed when she was forced to share a locker room and then compete against biological male Lia Thomas at the 2022 NCAA Women’s Swimming Championship. This moment became her call to action – to defend and protect America’s daughters against the woke left and their gender-denying ideology. Biological men should not take opportunities for success in sports away from women. Biological men should not share locker rooms with women.

Riley Gaines is the Director of the Riley Gaines Center at the Leadership Institute. In this role, she leads the effort to advocate for policies that protect women's sports and oppose gender ideology. An NCAA All-American swimmer from the University of Kentucky, she enjoyed a rich competitive history that drew national attention this year when Gaines tied for fifth place in the 200-yard freestyle at the NCAA Championships in a heat swum together with transgender athlete Lia Thomas. This event brought her to national attention, and since then, she has been a very vocal advocate for fairness in women's sports.

Gaines has testified before legislative bodies such as the Texas Senate and other state committees in support of laws that would ban transgender athletes from competing in women's sports. Her work has generated considerable media coverage and has deemed her the face of the battle for gender ideology concerning athletics. Other than this, Gaines is also a highly sought-after public speaker and has spoken on behalf of numerous conservative groups and events around the nation. Her speaking engagements address the maintenance of fairness in sport and the pervasive effects of gender theory on society. Her forthright and passionate stand has placed her as a polarizing but influential voice in the contemporary social and political discourse.

Apart from speaking engagements, Gaines has done political consulting and publicly endorsed her gender and sports political candidates. The work that she has done at the Riley Gaines Center continues to inspire and mobilize individuals who believe in her mission for the integrity of women's sports and to fight for equal rights and fair play.
